NAD+

Peptides

NAD+ (Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide) is a coenzyme found in every cell of your body. It’s responsible for energy production, DNA repair, cellular health, and anti-aging. NAD+ levels drop with age, stress, poor sleep, and illness. This leads to lower energy, slower recovery, and cognitive decline.

How it works:

NAD+ works by boosting mitochondrial function, helping your cells produce more energy efficiently. It also repairs DNA damage by fixing enzymes that fix cellular damage and slow down aging. It also supports your brain & nervous system by fueling neurotransmitter production and protecting brain cells from stress.

How to use it:

Forms:

  • IV Infusions: Most potent delivery; used in clinics for rapid effects. Not viable for most people

  • Intramuscular (IM) Injections: More accessible, good absorption

  • Nasal Spray or Sublingual: Convenient for daily use. Not as good as injecting, but still effective

  • Oral precursors (NR or NMN): Boost your body’s own NAD+ production, but not as direct or effective

  • Dose:

    • IV: 250–750 mg per session, 1–3x/week

    • IM Injection: 100–300 mg daily or a few times weekly

    • Nasal/Spray: 25–50 mg per day

    • Oral Precursors (NMN/NR): 250–1000 mg daily

  • When to Take:

    • Morning or early afternoon (boosts energy)

    • Post-exercise or recovery phases

    • Before mentally demanding tasks or during stress

Cycle Length:

  • Can be used continuously or in cycles (e.g., 10–30 days on, then off)

Benefits:

  • Mental Clarity & Focus: Supports cognitive function, memory, and mood — especially during burnout or brain fog.

  • Anti-Aging & Longevity: Helps slow biological aging by improving cellular repair and mitochondrial function.

  • Improved Recovery: Enhances recovery from workouts, illness, or hangovers by repairing cellular damage.

  • Addiction & Detox Support: Used in some clinics to aid withdrawal recovery from alcohol, nicotine, and drugs.

  • Immune System Support: Improves cell resilience under physical or oxidative stress.

Potential Side Effects:

Slight side effects include:

  • Flushing or warmth (especially with IVs)

  • Nausea or stomach discomfort (rare, with oral forms)

  • Headache or fatigue (if detox is happening too quickly)

  • Injection site irritation (with IM)

Tips to Minimize Side Effects:

  • Stay hydrated

  • Start at lower doses and work up

  • Take with food (for oral forms)

My Experience:

I have personally not used NAD+ because it does not currently stand out as something that would be inherently beneficial for me. As I get older and get into my 30s and 40s, my opinion may change. It has a lot of benefits for specific people but not necessarily for everyone. As always, do your own research first and message me on Instagram if you have questions!
